Map for Prophecy of Erim

As you might have seen from one of our recent Instagram posts, Julie and I have been steadily working on a new fantasy book series—the Ramithal series. We recently made our first book, Prophecy of Erim, available for preorder.

To create the map for Ramithal, shown above, I used Nortantis to generate a bunch of random maps until I found a color scheme I liked and a land shape close to what I had in mind. Then I tweaked it in the editor to match the land shape I wanted. I then selected region colors, added icons created using a combination of Bing Image Creator and hand-drawn art, swapped out the names for the ones in my book, and tweaked a few other settings.

It's always a surreal experience to use Nortantis for an actual project after spending so many hours developing it, but I'm happy with the result.
